Training camp for the 2007 season will begin Saturday August 25th in Regina. All players are expected to be in attendance the entire weekend. If you have not previously attended a tryout and would like to, please fill out the PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETES form located at the U of R Team site and send it to coach Smith.

February 2007

The U of R Wildcats will be hosting their first ever Texas Hold-em Charity Poker Tournament Saturday February 10th at Johnny Fox's in the Travelodge South.

The Tournament starts at 1:00pm with the final table expected to wrap up some time around 7:30pm. The entry fee is $35.00 with no re-buys. It is a no-limit tournament with a maximum of 96 players. There will be $1860.00 in total prize money including a $1000.00 first prize.

You can pick up tickets at the off-sale at the Travelodge on South Albert St. or at the intramural office at the U of Regina. Wildcat players will serve as dealers while Johnny Fox's staff will make sure you have great tasting beverages and food. The U of R Wildcats will be holding their winter girls softball camps on Thursday nights starting at 6:00pm. The camps run Feb.1st-March 8. The camps are for 10-13 and 14-15 year olds. For more information please contact Head Coach Mike Smith at 546-3243 or email softball@uregina.ca

The University of Regina Wildcats have announced that they will be heading to Hawaii for the spring break in 2008! The team will play NCAA Div II school's Chaminade University and Univ. of Hawaii-Hilo. The team is also hoping to schedule games versus two other NCAA teams in Hawaii. The exact schedule will not be released until spring of 2007. The team will leave Regina Friday February 15th 2008 and spend the entire week in both Honolulu and Hilo.

The Wildcats will be hosting a recruit day Friday January 5th at the University of Regina. If you are in grade 12(Senior) or currently at a Junior College and would like to attend this event please contact head coach Mike Smith at softball@uregina.ca.

The Wildcats held there first annual awards night on Wednesday Oct 1 at the Travelodge in Regina. Ashley Fekula (pictured) of Regina was a double winner taking home the Top Pitcher award as well as being named the team's Most Valuable Player. Fekula pitched in an astonishing 12 games for the Cats...finishing with a 5-5 record....including a complete game shutout of Mount Royal College in the 2006 playoffs.

The Top Hitter award went to Cherise Pellerin, also of Regina. Pellerin hit .471 and had 12 RBI, tops on the team in both categories. The Playoff MVP went to pitcher Carlynn Johnson. Johnson pitched in 4 of the 5 games in the playoffs and hit over .500. The team's Rookie of the Year went to Kendra Dayle. Kendra hit .341 and was one of the team's top defensive players. She played SS,3B,2B, LF and backcatched for the Cats in 2006.

It was the first, and last season for the following 4th year players and they will be missed. Pellerin, Shelly Verbeurgt, Lacey Gill, and Stephanie Reinhart. Assistant Coach Rob Lowther will also be graduating in 2006. Thanks for the great job Rob.

The Wildcats will be holding their first annual awards night at Johnny Fox's this Wednesday November 1st at 8:30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend. The team will be announcing it's individual award winners and will be making a very big announcement concerning next year! Check here Thursday for the 2006 Award Winners!!
